Fairfield County's Mrs. Claus was presented with a special proclamation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly by the entire Fairfield state legislative delegation for all of her volunteer work during the holiday season. Colleen Roche, a Fairfield native and Stratford resident, was honored by Fairfield State Representatives Cristin McCarthy Vahey, Laura Devlin and Jennifer Leeper and State Senator Tony Hwang for filling for Mrs. Claus at charitable events throughout Fairfield County.

Colleen Roche has a heart of gold and never says no to volunteering,” said Noreen Forde, an Easton woman who asked Roche to volunteer for Clearity, a nonprofit organization that helps ovarian cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Colleen steps in when Mrs. Claus is not available to travel from the North Pole to attend local charitable events like ours, but don’t tell the little ones,” Forde added.

The presentation took place on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 9:30 AM in Fairfield, where Roche works as a town employee for the Department of Public Works. Roche is being honored for helping Forde raise over $10,000 to help other ovarian cancer patients, survivors and caregivers through an annual poinsettia plant sale.

“Our community is such a special place and a primary reason for that is that there are so many people who, precisely like Colleen Roche, commit their time and energy into making it better," stated State Rep. Jennifer Leeper. For over two decades, Colleen has spread holiday cheer and joy to countless children and families. Fairfield is so lucky to have her and it was a privilege to present her with today’s citation,” Leeper added.

The event was hosted by Patrick Clyne, owner of The Castle on Post restaurant, 222 Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
